What is clinical psychology?

They have undertaken highly specialised APAC-accredited training in the assessment, diagnosis, formulation, and psychological treatment of mental health, behavioural, and emotional disorders across the lifespan. Using a range of techniques and therapies, clinical psychologists tailor programs for each patient, providing evidence-based, individualised psychological treatment.

How can it help me?

Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment can be an overwhelming time for both patients and their families. Sometimes it’s not until after cancer treatment finishes that patients find they experience feelings of anxiety or depression. Therapy may be able to help with managing the adjustment to a diagnosis, managing the uncertainty about the future, managing feelings of anxiety, fear or depression. Coping with side-effects, body-image, fatigue, a change in identity, relationships and living a meaningful life with uncertainty are common reasons someone may reach out for therapy. Therapy is a non-judgmental space for you to talk through whatever you may be experiencing.

What can I expect?

During your first appointment, we will start to get to know each other and explore what you would like from therapy. We will plan how often we might have appointments depending on your needs, sometimes that is fortnightly or monthly. There is no pressure to talk about anything you don’t want to and it is often a relief to connect with someone and share how you are feeling.
